Getting started
Making a puzzle
Tap New Puzzle, pick a photo from your library or one of the built-in images, choose how many pieces you want and what the table should look like, then tap Create. You'll see a preview of exactly how the photo will be cut before you commit.
You can also start a puzzle straight from the Photos app: tap Share on any picture and choose PuzzlePeace.
Choosing a difficulty
The presets are a good starting point — Easy is 24 pieces, Extreme is 750 — but the stepper next to them lets you land anywhere from 6 to 1000. Classic pieces interlock with tabs; Square and Triangle cut the picture into plain shapes instead.
Playing
Move a piece
Drag it. Connected pieces move together as one group.
Rotate
Tap a piece to select it, then twist with two fingers anywhere on the board. It turns around the middle of whatever you've selected.
Pan & zoom the table
Use three or more fingers to move, zoom and turn the whole board.
Face-down pieces
Some pieces start face down, just like tipping out a real box. Double-tap to flip one over.
Stuck?
Tap the lightbulb. The board moves to show you a pair that belongs together.
Saving
There's no save button — every move is written to disk as you go, and reopening a puzzle picks up exactly where you left it.
Pieces snap together when they're close
You don't need to be exact. If two pieces belong together and you get them roughly lined up — near enough in position, and turned to roughly the same angle as each other — they'll click into place. They don't have to be upright: a section you've turned sideways still accepts new pieces.
Playing with someone nearby
Open a puzzle, tap the ••• button and choose Invite Nearby Player. The other person needs PuzzlePeace open on their device, on the same Wi‑Fi network, with Bluetooth on. Once connected, you're both working the same puzzle and pieces move on both screens.
If they don't appear: check both devices are on the same network, that local network permission was granted (Settings → PuzzlePeace), and that both apps are open and awake.
Showing the board on a TV
Open a puzzle, then open Control Center and tap Screen Mirroring and pick your TV or Apple TV. PuzzlePeace notices and shows a full overview of the whole table on the big screen, while your own device stays free to zoom into whatever corner you're working on.
If the TV shows a plain mirror of your phone instead of the board overview, disconnect and reconnect screen mirroring with a puzzle already open.
Common questions
How do I rename or delete a puzzle?
On the main list, swipe a puzzle left to delete it or right to rename it. You can also press and hold it for the same options.
Can I start a finished puzzle again?
Yes. Open the completed puzzle, tap ••• and choose Start Over. That reshuffles the pieces and clears the time and move count.
The app feels slow with my photo
Very large photos are resized when you import them, so this shouldn't happen on new puzzles. A puzzle created in an older version of the app keeps the image it was made with — recreating it from the same photo will pick up the improvement.
Does it work offline?
Completely. PuzzlePeace never needs a connection. The local network is only used if you choose to play with someone nearby.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. See the privacy policy — there's no server, no account and no analytics.
